Report on
2004 Winter Meeting
UCGIS
held its 2004 Winter Meeting in Washington, DC, on February 5-6. The
congressional program was dedicated to the theme of homeland security.
Seven member institutions reported homeland security research
activities supported by federal funding. The congressional program was
followed by federal briefings. Representatives from federal agencies
presented to the delegates grant opportunities in federal governments to

The
council meeting held election for the new officers: Nina Lam was elected
to be the President-elect. May Yuan, David
Tulloch, and Mei-Po Kwan were elected to the Board.
UCGIS
hosted Urban Indicator Workshop
UCGIS
conducted a three-day hands-on workshop on integrating geographic
information systems (GIS) and urban indicator analysis on June 21-23,
2004, in Guadalajara, Mexico. The workshop was designed to introduce
urban and regional planning university professors from Mexico and
Central America to geographic information system (GIS) technology and
