To Participants – Computation and Visualization for the Understanding of Dynamics in Geographic Domains Workshop

 

This email contains travel and hotel information for the workshop, scheduled for October 16-18 at the Conference Center of the Maritime Institute of Technology & Graduate Studies, in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. Directions are provided below and detailed maps may be found at the following address:

1. The Conference Center is located just east of the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (Maryland Highway #295) at the West Nursery Road exit.
2. Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and the Amtrak BWI station are less than five miles from the Conference Center.
3. Complimentary shuttle service from BWI and the Amtrak BWI station is provided by calling 410-859-5700, extension 0, after arrival (Do not use the toll-free reservation number for this service). The Center tells us that typical response time is 15 minutes. Transportation by taxi will be a personal expense of the participant.
4. Note, if you are driving northbound from Washington or BWI airport on the Parkway: Once you take the West Nursery Road exit, go right at the top of the ramp and, after merging onto that road, quickly move into the far left lane in order to make a left turn on International Drive at the first traffic light. Once on International Drive, take the first left (Aero Drive) and drive two blocks and through the gate. Parking lot D is closest to the hotel entrance.
5. All meals and lodging are complimentary for participants. The Center should have participants’ names on their guest registration list. If a name is missing, follow the usual registration procedure and notify one of the workshop directors. Guest rooms are available for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights, and meals are provided from dinner on Sunday through Wednesday lunch. Dinner on Sunday evening is served from 5 pm until 7:30. Breakfast on Monday morning is 7 am until 9 am. An off-campus, after dinner visit to the popular local Kaufmann’s Tavern is planned for Monday evening.

Northbound:

1. From BWI Airport – From airport ramp take I-195 to the Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295 North). Continue to the West Nursery Road exit. At the end of exit, bear right onto West Nursery Road. Go to first traffic light and turn left onto International Drive. Go to first street and turn left onto Aero Drive. Proceed two blocks and through gate onto CCMIT property.

2. From BWI Amtrak- At light, turn left onto Route 170 (Camp Meade Rd). Continue on Rt 170 to I-195. Follow this to Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295 North). Follow MD-295 North to the West Nursery Road exit. At the end of exit, bear right onto West Nursery Road. Go to first light and turn left onto International Drive. Go to the first street and turn left onto Aero Drive. Proceed two blocks and through gate onto CCMIT property.

3. From South via Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295) – Go North to the West Nursery Road exit (just after the BWI exit). Bear right at end of ramp onto West Nursery Road. Go to first accessible light and turn left onto International Drive. Go to first street and turn left onto Aero Drive. Proceed two blocks and through gate onto CCMIT property.

4. From South via I-95 – Go North to I-195 East. Take I-195 East to MD-295 North. Proceed as in # 3 above.

5. From South via Rt. 3/301, I-97, Rte 2 – (Preferred) Go North to MD-100. Go West to MD-295 North, then proceed as in # 3 above. (Alternative) Go North to Baltimore Beltway (I-695). Take I-695 West towards Baltimore/Towson (not Key Bridge). Take exit 7 (Baltimore/Washington Parkway South), then proceed as in Southbound directions.

Southbound:

1. From MD-295 – Go South on Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295) to the West Nursery Road exit (first exit south of I-695 Baltimore Beltway). At the end of the ramp, turn left at the light onto West Nursery Road. At third light (International Blvd.), turn left. Go to first street and turn left onto Aero Drive. Proceed two blocks and through gate onto CCMIT property.

2. From North via I-95 using Ft. McHenry Tunnel- Head South through Ft. McHenry Tunnel. Stay on I-95 South to the third exit after the tunnel, which is MD-295 Baltimore/Washington Parkway South. Proceed as in # 1 above.

3. From North via Beltway – I-695 (South), I-83, I-70, I-95- Take Baltimore Beltway (I-695 South toward Glen Burnie). Take exit 7 South, Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295). Proceed as in # 1 above.

4. From Downtown Baltimore via I-395- Take I-395 South to I-95 South. Exit left onto I-695 East (Glen Burnie). Take exit 7 South, Baltimore/Washington Parkway (MD-295). Proceed as in # 1 above.

Once on the Institute Grounds – Follow blue lines to visitor parking lots A, B, C, or D. Further directions may be obtained at the front desk, which is located in the South Residence Building (Building # 2).
