The Department of Geography at The University of Iowa has openings for up to two graduate research assistants to join UIowa’s IGERT graduate program Geoinformatics for Environmental and Energy Modeling and Prediction (GEEMaP) beginning in January 2013. This is an interdisciplinary program for Ph.D. students supported by the National Science Foundation to provide students with a research experience in geographic information science and applied areas of environmental science and energy production. Participating departments in GEEMaP include Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biostatistics, Mathematics, and Political Science. Please visit http://geemap.stat.uiowa.edu/ for more details on this program.
Interested individuals need to complete the following two applications: The GEEMaP application for an IGERT traineeship, and the graduate program application for the Geography Department at The University of Iowa. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents, have at a minimum a B.A. or B.S. degree in Geography or a relevant discipline by the time they join the program in January 2013. Review of applications will begin on October 15, 2012. We encourage you to look at the web pages of the Geography Department at www.uiowa.edu/~geog for more information about our Department and Geography faculty research. Dr. Kathleen Stewart (kathleen-stewart@uiowa.edu) can be contacted for more information about applying for one of the trainee positions in Geography.
