Position Information

The University of Maryland (at College Park) Department of Geography invites applications one Lecturer position Geospatial Sciences. This position is expected to start in March 2010. Duties: We seek a candidate who will provide expert teaching support for the Master of Professional Studies in Geospatial Information Sciences (MPS-GIS) Program. The teaching load for the position will be four courses, or their equivalent, per semester. Summer teaching assignments may be available.

Qualifications: Minimum requirements are a Ph.D. in geography or a related discipline by the time of appointment and demonstrated teaching records in GIS. The person chosen for the position will be broadly trained in both GIS and remote sensing. Proficiency in ESRI products is essential and programming skills is highly desirable. The courses to be taught include: GIS Modeling, Spatial Databases, GIS Programming, Geovisualization, and GPS. Experience in teaching online courses is a plus.
