Geographer

Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $68,000 to $80,000
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area

Geographers are sought to apply skills and training in geography and/or related disciplines (GIS, cartography, geology, remote sensing, photogrammetry, imagery analysis, etc) at the CIA Map Library which is responsible for providing the US Intelligence Community with information that supports analysis, operational planning of military operations and diplomacy. CIA Map Library Geographers perform a range of activities, including the production of maps and GIS products, analysis and cataloging of map library holds, reference services, management of online product dissemination and expert consultation with CIA colleagues and other US Government partners.


Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree in geography or a related discipline, as well as a background in geographic information systems, cartography or an allied science, or a minimum of 5 years' equivalent work experience. Organizational skills and the ability to move large volumes of work; a creative and energetic approach to tasks; and strong written and oral communications skills are also necessary.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.
