2:45pm UCGIS Open Space research discussion forum - TBA
We will explore research topics in an Open Space discussion forum so bring your thrilling ideas and burning research questions with you to this session where we discuss the accomplishments of current GIScience research and consider what future opportunities are available for UCGIS members. Possible topics could include e.g., cyberGIS, mobile GIS, spatiotemporal GIS, among many others. A great opportunity to ask questions, contribute to discussions, and start to build a network of researchers interested in your research area. Bring your suggestions for topics with you!

9:00am BoKprint mapping exercise - A team of four GIScientists have begun a project on behalf of UCGIS to build a framework for continuing the revision and application of the GIS&T Body of Knowledge (BoK) (2006).  To date, we have been experimenting with tools for organizing and editing the BoK collaboratively, and for mapping the scope of a person, course, job, etc. onto the BoK.  This is what we are calling a "BoKprint:" what elements of the BoK do you know (to varying degrees)? What elements are covered in your courses to one degree or another? Bring your laptop to the workshop, and test our tools to find out! We are especially looking for your feedback on the tools, on the potential roles of BoKprinting in the GIS community, and on places where the first edition of the BoK needs to be improved.  (Rooms to be announced)
