Sean
C. Ahearn received his
Ph.D. in Environmental Monitoring in 1986 from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison and an M.S. from the same institution. He received a B.S. in
1978 from the College of Environmental Science and Forestry-Syracuse University. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota from 1986-1990. He is
currently a Professor of Geography at Hunter College – CUNY and Director of the
Center for Advanced Research of Spatial Information (CARSI). He conducts
research in both remote sensing and geographic information system and has
published in IEEE Geo-science and Remote Sensing, the International Journal of
Remote Sensing, Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing, Conservation Biology,
Ecological Modeling, the American Journal of Epidemiology and the International
Journal for Geographic Information Science. His interests include agent-based
models, space-time analysis, digital image analysis, ecological modeling,
emergency response and urban geographic systems. He has been a board member of
the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) for the
last 2+ years.
