Stephen J. Ventura is Professor of Environmental Studies and Soil
Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also Chair of the
Department of Soil Science and Director of the Land Information and Computer
Graphics Facility, a center for GIS research and technology
transfer. He is the Editor-in-chief for URISA Journal, a past-president
President of the Wisconsin Land Information Association, and a UCGIS delegate
since its inception. Research interests include land records modernization,
PPGIS, and GIS for land use planning and management. He has also worked
on applications of GIS in landscape process modeling and in environmental and
resource management issues such as non-point source pollution, groundwater
contamination, precision agriculture, vegetation mapping, land evaluation,
and invasion of exotic species.
