This
will be an exceptional opportunity to come together with
colleagues for briefings and discussions by top officials in federal agencies
that provide support for the Geospatial Security Network
(GS-Net) proposal, research and other GIS projects. We
expect to hear about new developments at Homeland Security, NSF, USGS, NASA, NSA,
NGA, and others. This meeting also provides an opportunity for
the UCGIS community to describe current GIS research projects to
agencies, as well as members of Congress and their professional
staff.
The UCGIS Board will meet on
Wednesday evening, February 7 and on Friday evening, February 9, and committee meetings will
be held on Friday afternoon, February 9. Formal sessions will start after breakfast
on Thursday, February 8, with discussion of the GS-Net proposal and
presentations from agency representatives. The balance of the
schedule on Thursday and Friday will include visits to several
federal agencies, opportunities for personal meetings with
members of Congress and staff, and the Winter Council Meeting of
Delegates. The final session will end in late afternoon on
February 9.
Accommodations are limited for
this meeting, so it is important for delegates to
register for
the conference and reserve a hotel room as soon as possible.
