UCGIS Winter Meeting 2009
February 5 & 6, 2009
Library of Congress - First Street & Independence Avenue, S.E.
Doubletree Hotel - 1515 Rhode Island Avenue, NW

The central topic for UCGIS  2009 Winter Meeting is GIScience and Transportation: Getting Us Moving. This will be an exceptional opportunity to come together with colleagues and to hear from federal agencies that support advanced geospatial research. The meeting also provides a forum for the UCGIS community to describe current GIS research projects, focusing this year on transportation.

The UCGIS Board will meet on Wednesday evening, February 4 and on Friday evening, February 6. Committees will meet from 12:30 until 2:30 on Friday, February 6, and the conference will conclude with the meeting of the UCGIS Council from 3:00 until 5:00 on Friday.

Thursday, February 5, sessions on GIS for Transportation will begin at 8:15 on Capitol Hill with academic panels of faculty from UCGIS member institutions. Afternoon sessions will include presentations by federal agencies and a panel discussion,  GIS for Transportation: Reflection and Directions.

On Friday we will meet in our conference hotel, the Hilton Washington Doubletree, at 1515 Rhode Island Avenue, NW, beginning at 9:00 and concluding at 5:00 in the afternoon. A more detailed schedule will be posted and distributed to participants in early January.

Accommodations are limited for this meeting, so it is important for delegates to (1) register for the conference and (2) reserve a hotel room as soon as possible. Special UCGIS rates at the Doubletree Hotel are available through January 15, 2009.
