Brandon PleweBrandon S. Plewe, Brigham Young University

Brandon has been in the Geography Department at Brigham Young University since 1996.  He teaches GIS and Cartography there, and his primary research interests are in geographic information theory, historical GIS, and historical cartography.  He received his PhD from the University at Buffalo in 1997.  In the mid-90s he was a pioneer in the development of web-based mapping and GIS.  In recent years, he has been the president of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS), and is currently the president of the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS).  He brings to UCGIS a strong desire to see the several associations and consortia related to GIScience work more closely together to strengthen our discipline.
