UCGIS Winter Meeting 2010

February 4 & 5, 2010

Doubletree Hotel - 1515 Rhode Island Avenue, NW

This year’s Winter Meeting of UCGIS will feature presentations on the general theme “Research on Place-based Analysis and Its Role in Government Policy” with discussions of cloud computing, H1N1 and social networking, geospatial inequities in education and health policies, spatial data infrastructure for emergency management, and the smart grid.

The meeting will bring together colleagues and leaders from around the country for two days of involvement in major national issues affecting geographic information science, with an emphasis on working with government officials.

The program also will include details on upcoming initiatives in 2010 at several major government agencies, including a presentation from the Geographic Information Officer at the Department of Interior, Karen Siderelis. A panel discussion by Washington-based government relations representatives of UCGIS member universities will review national issues affecting higher education and provide tips on working with members of Congress and executive agencies.

Registration and additional details will be available soon, but for now mark your calendar: February 4-5, Doubletree Hotel, Washington, DC.

Accommodations are limited for this meeting, so it is important for delegates to (1) register for the conference and (2) reserve a hotel room as soon as possible. Special UCGIS rates at the Doubletree Hotel are available through January 15, 2010.
