Call for Workshop Proposals

UCGIS invites proposals for workshops that will take place during our next Symposium, June 7 - 11, 2021.  All events will take place online.

At our workshops, participants have the opportunity to address specific technical and/or thematic topics, with an emphasis on exchange of ideas and professional development.  We particularly encourage proposals that focus on emerging topics and applications, on open challenges in GIScience research and education, and on interdisciplinary topics that highlight our Symposium's focus on Advancing GIScience-informed Policy Solutions

The workshops complement the regular Symposium programming and facilitate more in-depth and engaged modes of interaction. They are intended to be interactive, with a fairly small set of participants (< 30), and provide an opportunity for hands-on training and demonstrations, discussions, or a combination.

  • Workshops will span from 1.5 to 3 hours in length, and will be scheduled on days TBD between Monday June 7 - Friday June 11, 2021.
  • Participants affiliated with UCGIS member instructions may participate in workshops at no charge. There may be a modest fee charged to individuals from non-member institutions.
  • Workshop instructors may be eligible for a modest stipend.

Interested in submitting a proposal?  Please use this online form. Workshop proposals are due by February 1, 2021.
