Global GIScience Conversation: Convergence Panel
Tuesday, May 18, 2021, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM EDT
Category: Other Events

  • What have been the most successful practices that GIScience educators have implemented over the last year?
  • What new teaching challenges will emerge over the next 1-5 years?
  • What will need to change about how GIScience is taught and learned in higher education that’s different from other subjects?

Join us on Tuesday May 18, 2021 for the final session of the Global Conversations around Resilience in GIScience Education, https://www.globalgiscienceeducation.org/home.  Separate groups of faculty and administrators from eight different universities across multiple continents will contribute their perspectives about these and other questions, and you too are cordially invited to participate in on the conversation.

Since summer 2020 when these global conversations were launched, scholars and educators around the world have been finding ideas, solutions, and support from our communities of practice.  Written summaries and recorded videos of the 3 separate instances of Panel 1 (focused on pedagogies) and of Panel 2 (focused on implementing best practices and technologies) are available on the project website, https://www.globalgiscienceeducation.org/conversations.

The final single, synchronous Panel 3 will focus on convergence of these topics.  It will take place on Tuesday May 18, 2021 from 4:00 -5:30 pm Eastern / 1:00 – 2:30 pm Pacific. (If you are in Asia or Oceania, join the synchronous session early on the morning of Wednesday, May 19!).   Read more details about the questions, the presenters, and the time zones at the session’s webpage, https://www.globalgiscienceeducation.org/conversations/panel-3-convergence
